I’ve personally used Wineskin Winery, which is open source, and that served me pretty well.
MAC TO WINDOWS EMULATOR PROFESSIONAL
I haven’t used Crossover much, so I can’t compare it against Wine, but if I’m not mistaken Crossover is powered by Wine and is just a more professional version of a Wine wrapper. So it really depends on what you want to play and how many other people have tried to get it to work too. Some apps work great and some are a pain to just then running, if they run at all. However, support for apps is really hit or miss due to how it works. This is the least resource intensive since you don’t have to emulate an entire OS to run it. Basically they use a wrapper to repackage a Windows applications into a native MacOS application, so it’s not technically emulation. So Wine and Crossover work pretty similarly. I don’t have an M1 laptop so my experience is just my old MacBook Pro. But in the meantime, check out your free trials with Parallels and Arcade and see what works for you! Good community here on Reddit too, so you can ask questions or search for past ones. I'm hoping there will be more native support for games and ARM as the architecture becomes more popular.

(Note: The intro video is REALLY long but it basically sums up the original game as this is a sequel so that you can get right into playing this one).

If you just bought the M1 there is a promotion right now that you get 3 months of Apple Arcade for free and $5 a month after that. Most are casual gaming, but there are a few gems in there. Probably won't until there is ARM support for Eas圜heat - which is a bummer.Īpple Arcade actually has quite a few games on it. I've not heard of them working on Wine or Crossover yet either. But anything AAA that use Eas圜heat for online play will not work in Parallels.

You can get a 14-day free trial from them and see how it works for you and the games you play. Parallels 16 added in native m1 support and lets you download Windows on ARM (Windows 10).
